TRANSPIRENAICA GR11 ETAPA 4: OCHAGAVÍA - ISABA

Salimos con sol, lo que nos puso de muy buen humor. El camino era una pista forestal bastante fea que subía hacia el Alto Zotrapea.

Íbamos caminando más o menos rápido cuando nos encontramos a Joan y Josep comiéndose un bocadillo al lado del camino. Nos sentamos con ellos y nos comimos unas barritas de cereales.

Seguimos la etapa los cuatro juntos, caminando hacia el Collado de Millingrate Kakueta por unos caminitos desde los que ya se empiezan a ver los Pirineos de verdad.

El camino desciende a lo bruto por el bosque hacia la Ermita de Idoia, desde la que se llega hasta Isaba siguiendo el vía crucis.

Isaba es un pueblo muy bonito y, como llegamos pronto y no estábamos cansados, pudimos recorrerlo caminando durante la tarde.

Vimos el ayuntamiento, el frontón, la iglesia, las casas con los eguzkilores secos en las puertas, el único cine rural de la región y nos maravillamos con sus casas de piedra con huertecito adosado.

PYRENEES TRAIL GR11 STAGE 4: OTSAGABIA - IZABA

The sun was shinning from the very start of the day and that made us feel really strong and happy. The start of the trail was a pretty ugly rural road climbing to Zotrapea Heights. 

We were walking nonchalantly when we found Joan and Josep munching on their second breakfast. We sat with them for a bit a had a couple of muesli bars. 

When we all were done we took the way back together towards Milingrate Kakueta saddle with views of the highest nearby Pyrenees peaks on the far horizon. 

Eventually, the track starts descending drastically and takes you to the Temple of Idoia. From this church, the way down into town is again a Via Crucis paved with large pebbles.

Isaba is a cute and quiet little town. We got there early and we weren’t tired so we spent the afternoon wandering around its streets. 

All the main features were present: the city hall, the fronton (this is a wall where people plays a ball game, all Basque towns must have one no matter the side of their population), the church, wooden doors with dry eguzkilores (a endemic thistle), the only rural cinema in the region and dozens of stone houses with green gardens just sprouting.
