MARC Y ÉDEL NOS VISITAN

Hace ya tres años y medio, cuando nos fuimos de Barcelona para viajar haciendo helpx, empezamos este blog pensando que igual nuestra experiencia podría dar el último empujoncito a alguien para animarse a ver mundo, viendo que el dinero no es excusa. Parece ser que un poco funcionó ya que el año pasado, cuando fuimos a casa de visita, Marc, amigo nuestro de la Universidad y de la grandiosa revista El Xollo, nos comentó que quería seguir nuestros pasos con su novia Édel.

Ellos querían viajar alrededor de Australia durante un año (ellos se pusieron límite de tiempo, cosa buena porque si no lo haces pasa lo que pasa y Marina y yo ya llevamos casi 4 años de parranda) haciendo helpx. Empezamos a hablar y entre lo que les contamos, el blog y toda su investigación hace un año que dieron el salto a Australia.

Después de casi un año por Oz, tuvieron un pensamiento similar al nuestro y decidieron que, ya que estaban tan lejos de casa, deberían visitar Nueva Zelanda antes de volver. Y así lo hicieron. Así que después de unas semanas de viaje por la Tierra Media aparecieron por nuestro territorio.

Fue un placer verlos y hacer alguna excursión con ellos, a pesar de que nos dedicamos a hablar y contarnos cotilleos y batallitas en lugar de disfrutar de la excursión y el paisaje. Es lo que tiene ver a viejos amigos después de tanto tiempo. Paseamos por Arrowtown, hicimos la excursión hasta el Lake Sylvan y subimos a ver el paisaje desde la cima de Coronet Peak.

Ellos tienen una buena cámara de fotos y muy buena mano con ella así que les hemos cogido prestadas algunas fotos de las que hicieron. El resto las tienen en su Facebook Blog llamado “Al cul del món”.

Los dejamos rumbo a Milford Sound y Wellington, últimas paradas antes de volver a casa, por Navidad, como el turrón.

MARC AND ÉDEL VISIT US

It’s already three years since we left Barcelona and started travelling using Helpex as our main way to find accommodation and making friends overseas. One of the reasons why Enrique decided to keep a blog about our experience was to encourage others to travel the world as well by showing that money is not an excuse. Well, it seems that at least it’s worked with someone. When we visited home last year, our friend Marc from Uni told us that he was considering to follow our way with his girlfriend Édel. 

They wanted to travel all around Australia for a year while doing helpx (and they did set themselves a time deadline, which is good to minimise the risk of getting stuck somewhere like has happened to us). We had a chat with Marc while we were there, we kept in touch with both via e-mail when we came back down here and about a year ago they jumped from Tarragona to Australia (by plane, though).

After a year travelling in OZ, they had a similar though to ours: we’re too far from home now, we should visit New Zealand as well before getting back. And so they did. They travelled Middle Earth for a few weeks and fitted three weeks in the Wakatipu basin!

Seeing them again was beyond awesome. We even did a couple of walks or three with them but we were too busy catching up with gossips and stories that we didn’t pay much attention to the beautiful scenery. We’re sorry about that, guys, but that’s what happens when you meet long time good friends after such a long time. We tried to be good hosts and took them to Arrowtown and Coronet Peak, did the Lake Sylvan walk and the Lake Hayes circuit.

They have a great camera and pretty good skills using it too so this time we’ve “borrowed” some of their pictures. You can find the rest of their pictures in their Facebook Blog called “Al cul del món” which in Catalan stands for “In the world’s ass”.

We left farewell them when leaving towrds Milford Sound and Wellington, before heading back home for Christmas.
